Hiking on the Grosseck-Speiereck in the Lungau

| You can hike on the mountain, either from Mauterndorf or St. Michael, or ride comfortably on the 8-person cable car, the Grosseck cable car from Mauterndorf ski centre at 1,100 m elevation to nearly 2,000 m elevation. The cable car mountain station is the starting point for circular hiking trails with a wonderful panoramic view. Your physical well-being is naturally catered for in the best possible way at the alpine huts and restaurants on the mountain. |

By the way: The Grosseck cable car is a family friendly day-trip destination with disabled access and a pram or wheelchair can be carried in each gondola.
Mountain biking on the Grosseck-Speiereck
Up to the peak – under your own steam or with the mountain lifts
| From Mauterndorf it is possible to arrive at the Grosseck cable car mountain station in about two hours along the well-signposted mountain bike trails. Afterwards, mountain bikers can still take on the last ascent to the Speiereck Hütte alpine hut. Following refreshment on the sunny panoramic terrace of the Speiereck Hütte or at the Panorama Alm mountain restaurant, you're ready to take on the downward descent into the valley. |

By the way: For those who’d rather mountain bike at a leisurely pace, there’s the possibility of transporting your mountain bike up the mountain with the cable car and then cycling back down to the valley to the starting point either via St. Michael in Lungau (22 km) or via Mauterndorf (11 km).
